When researching property in Mexico City, retain the address with its local components. Street and number may be insufficient if the alcaldía or colonia is unclear. The first task is to locate the correct property before interpreting layers over it.

Prepare the address and account reference

The Mexico City SIG supports searches by address components, cadastral account or map selection. Its account search specifies an eight-digit format. Follow the displayed format while retaining the original reference so you can explain any adaptation.

Compare the returned alcaldía, colonia, street and number with the information supplied. Zoom until you recognise the block and property frontage. If the search leads to a nearby corner, record that approximation instead of treating it as a complete match. A correctly located street does not resolve which parcel or entrance is intended.

Read layers and documents separately

After identifying the property, note the activated layer and field being interpreted. For a land-use question, preserve the legend and query date. A viewer colour does not by itself equal the official document a procedure may require; follow the relevant institutional reference when that document is needed.

For an apartment, the unit still needs to be connected to the queried property. A whole building may contain different offered elements, such as dwelling and parking. Record what is confirmed and what requires clarification. If address and account searches point to different places, retain both results and frame that discrepancy before calculating areas, comparing prices or assuming that the record describes precisely what the advertisement offers.
