How to read the period and scope of a SIGRID scenario
Identify phenomenon, territory and validity period before using a risk scenario to research a home’s surroundings.
Research into a Peruvian home’s surroundings can use risk scenarios when their purpose and period remain explicit. A map prepared for a particular phenomenon and time window does not automatically describe every condition affecting an individual building.
Identify the scenario’s question
CENEPRED’s SIGRID scenarios section organises resources with specific phenomena and periods. Read the title, territorial scope and dates before locating the property. Preserve the legend too: colours only have meaning within that particular resource.
Check whether information represents districts, zones or another analytical unit. A broad territorial classification is not an inspection of every construction inside it. A recent download date does not change the period represented by the scenario. Record those dates separately when preparing a comparison.
Separate context from building assessment
Locate the home using a checked reference and note its relationship to the represented unit. If it lies close to a boundary, retain the uncertainty instead of assigning a category by approximation. Describe the question worth investigating during a visit or technical enquiry.
When comparing places, use the same phenomenon, period and scale. Comparing a seasonal scenario for one area with a historical map for another creates a difference that is difficult to interpret. Save sources and dates and mark unresolved points. This process organises territorial evidence; it does not certify structural safety, current access or permitted use of a dwelling. An individual conclusion requires assessment connected to the property, with the scenario retained as context rather than presented as the final result of that assessment.
A building for practising the distinction
The verified Terraes record represents a 381.78 m² footprint at -12.04622, -77.04352. The query on 22 September 2026 returned this Overture record, release 2026-08-19.0. This is footprint area; it does not identify an apartment or establish rights over the land. Use the example to recognise which object you are reading before applying the official query to your property.
Continue with the other local guide or the country hub. The methodology explains evidence concepts; its specific models do not automatically transfer to this case.

Mapped footprints do not establish legal ownership or apartment floor area. Advertisements describe asking prices; area references are neither recorded sale prices nor official appraisals.
