Official geographic sources for buildings and padrones in Uruguay
Choose between Montevideo municipal mapping and national cadastral datasets, checking each resource before joining its information.
Distinguish a municipal lookup tool, a national cadastral dataset and a building layer when researching property geography in Uruguay. Each has its own scope. Choose the source that addresses your question rather than treating all geographic information as one cadastral record.
For an address in Montevideo
The Montevideo geographic information portal is the municipal starting point for the current map and other geographic resources. For an address-to-padrón lookup, follow the municipality's instructions.
Use the current MonteviMap link from the portal. Interfaces and website addresses can change; a broken older link does not establish that the underlying information has disappeared. Check the street, door number and returned location before saving an identifier.
Keep the source's result separate from any interpretation you add. A useful research note says which query returned the information and which part remains uncertain.
For published cadastral data
The Dirección Nacional de Catastro catalogue of urban and rural padrones provides resources and metadata. Check the date of the specific resource used rather than assuming the catalogue page's appearance means every file is current.
Read field descriptions and scope before interpreting a row. Save the resource name, date and identifiers supplied by that source. If combining it with another dataset, verify the relationship between identifiers. A matching number without context, or a similar name, is not enough to establish identity.
Do not describe a join as verified unless you have checked what both sides identify. This matters when a record concerns land while the other concerns a structure or unit.
For a building in Terraes
The Palacio Salvo record, checked on September 22, 2026, cited Overture release 2026-08-19.0 and retained OpenStreetMap attribution. It showed a 1,809.73 m² footprint, with no matched parcel or unit area.
That is evidence about a building record. It does not establish that Terraes has linked the structure to a national cadastral padrón. External information can support further investigation, but a relationship absent from the page should not be reported as an existing verified match.
Preserve the limits when sharing
Attach the source link and access date to each finding. Retain legends and context in screenshots so the reader can distinguish a building outline from a parcel. Explain whether you resolved location, cadastral identity or a pricing question: these are different outcomes.
Geographic data alone does not establish ownership or completed sale prices. Keep pending questions explicit. Continue with building and padrón research, area definitions and the Uruguay hub. The methodology introduces shared concepts without extending its Colombian model to these records.

Mapped footprints do not establish legal ownership or apartment floor area. Advertisements describe asking prices; area references are neither recorded sale prices nor official appraisals.
